scarabs coming along...

OK, picking up a rythmn now — here's my progress on the next animal, the scarab beetle:

step 5: vector graphic (last step before the fabric collage!)

step 4: drawing of the sculpture

step 3: finished sculptures

step 2: unfired clay sculptures

step 1: study of the scarab beetle

Hopefully I'll be able to finish the fabric collage next week. I'll explain more about this peculiar creature in my next post with new pics. :)

  1. oooooh my god oh my god oh my god i love them so much!!!!!! They're amazingly life like, especially when you hold them in your hand. I can't help but touch all your pieces in class (sorry). they're just too irresistibly smooth and intricate!!! When you made the larva did you build the shell and larva separately? or did you make it as one solid piece? Just incredible <3

  2. That is such an amazing photo of that beautiful piece. YC really loved it too and that pedastol didn't do it justice in the show.
When are you getting that incredible book done so I can buy it.

  3. I was so happy to get some positive feedback from YC. She has high standards!

I wish I were moving faster on the book right now. Once the holidays are over... :) I'm glad you're excited for it though!
